The Shop Supervisor directly supervises employees in the Vehicle Maintenance Group and oversees all vehicle maintenance related contracts.The primary responsibilities of this positionare: conferring with department heads to execute work plans; determining vehicle’s status for service, preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance; providing the operating department with a list of preferred trains for Revenue Service; and inspecting trains as required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the specific knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor’s degree in Science (B. S.) or equivalent from a four-year accredited college or university and at least five (5) years related work experience, with at least three (3) years in supervisory capacity. Extended work experience may be substituted for educational credentials.
Ability to speak, read and write both Spanish and English in a work setting. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Possession of a valid driver’s license in the appropriate class and any other certificates, licenses and registrations as required by law to perform the specified functions.
